Early Beginnings

1600 AD

Heritage from Holland

Bram was born in Holland to a family that traces an ancestry specialising in woodworking back to the year 1600. Having inherited this centuries-old passion for working with wood, Bram as a young boy started to learn the craft from his father, who himself has focused on exterior and interior carpentry for luxury yachts and antique restorations for the past 40 years.

A Craftsman is Made

Bram started formal artisanal training when he was only 15 years old, and over the years translated his love and flair for wood into the finest craftsmanship and the ability to create future heirlooms of great beauty, singular elegance and lasting quality.

In 2011, Bram moved to South Africa, and continued to craft exceptional pieces of furniture, first at Wildervanck Furniture and later at V + Design Furniture.

A Business is Born

Van de Minkelis Design Furniture is a high-end woodworking business located to the east of Pretoria. The owner, Bram van de Minkelis, started the business on 15 January 2015 as a continuation of V+ Design Furniture.

Van de Minkelis Design Furniture manufactures its products in a professionally equipped workshop of about 900 m2. Here we do all our creative work, and apply the best techniques of design and manufacture.
